Sir,

I have the honour to report that in June last, through information derived from an intercepted letter, fifty two casks of wood tar consigned by Messrs. Bergmann & Co., Japan, to Messrs, Carl Schlieper & Co., Samarang, both firms being on

the Statutory List, were removed from the Japanese S.S. "Hokuto

Maru"; the consent of the Consul-General for Japan having been

obtained in the first instance.

This consignment has been forfeited to the Crown by the Police Magistrate under section 11 of Ordinance No. 22

of 1915.
